CV successfully completed and commissioned a fire system upgrade at the Pinkenba Common User Berth for the Port of Brisbane.

The upgrade not only accommodates an increased bulk fuel import capacity, it enhances safety and efficiency for Port of Brisbane’s customers by elevating safety protocols, streamlining operations and providing greater firefighting capability.

As the principal contractor on this project, CV’s Asset Services team showcased our multi-trade capability, bringing together Project Engineering, Project Management, Building, Plumbing, Electrical and Fire Services expertise to ensure the project’s success.

Throughout the 18 month project, the CV team worked diligently to ensure the wharf remained fully operational, minimising disruptions and ensuring safety at all times.

The impressive fire system features:

• 4m high, 24m long fire barrier: able to withstand extreme heat for 2 hours
• Water Oscillating Hydrant Monitors: 7 bar, 1,800 litres per minute
• Foam/Water Monitor atop 12m tower: 10 bar, 5,250 litres per minute
• Tower Deluge Sprayers: 4 bar, 405 litres per minute
• Robust water supply: 10,800 litres per minute capability
• Effortless control: 6 remote-controlled Deluge Valves
• Comprehensive monitoring: remote security cameras viewing each wharf area
• Ample resources: 13,000 litres of firefighting foam concentrate
