Urraween Pump Station Centralised Control Upgrade

Img 0277 Edit

Project Overview

In response to growing infrastructure demands and aging legacy systems, a strategic water bypass and booster pump station was developed on the existing reservoir site. This project not only introduced critical new infrastructure but also delivered essential upgrades to the existing pump station to enhance system reliability and scalability across the network.

  • Industry Water & Wastewater
  • Client Fraser Coast Regional Council
  • Location Hervey Bay, QLD

Scope of Works

CV was engaged to lead the renewal and centralisation of electrical and controls infrastructure across the site. The key objective was to integrate and modernise operational control across both existing and new assets, streamlining operations and improving system resilience.

Key deliverables:

  • Construction of a new water bypass/booster pump station.
  • Full upgrade and renewal of existing electrical and control switchboards.
  • Integration of all infrastructure into a centralised control switchboard.
  • Seamless operation across legacy and new infrastructure components.

Innovation & Execution Strategy

To ensure minimal disruption and deliver future-ready outcomes, CV applied a phased, collaborative approach:

  • Site Assessment & Design Optimisation – Tailored solutions engineered to retrofit legacy systems while aligning with new installations.
  • Smart Control Integration – Adoption of modular switchboards and future-proof SCADA-ready architecture.
  • Collaborative Delivery – Close coordination with civil and mechanical teams to align critical milestones and commissioning schedules.
  • Risk Mitigation – All works planned to mitigate outage risk and maintain operational continuity across the network.

Outcomes & Impact

  • Centralised Control System: Improved visibility and system coordination across both new and existing infrastructure.
  • Reduced Maintenance Downtime: New infrastructure reduces reactive servicing needs.
  • Enhanced Reliability: Boosted resilience of water delivery infrastructure to meet current and future demand.
  • Regulatory Compliance: All systems designed and installed to align with modern compliance frameworks and operational best practices.
